Stata Center
The Stata Center at MIT opened in 2004 to mixed reviews. The Boston Globe reported that "it is always going to look unfinished. It also looks as if it's about to collapse. Columns tilt at scary angles. Walls teeter, swerve, and collide in random curves and angles. The Stata's appearance is a metaphor for the freedom, daring, and creativity of the research that is supposed to occur inside it". Whether fair or not, the building was also criticized for being insensitive to its occupants. It became famous in 2007 when MIT sued Frank Gehry for providing deficient design services and drawings, which caused many leaks and cracks to form. Either loved or hated, this building does not evoke many neutral feelings.
