Chen House
This family house has been realized on an old Japanese cherry farm in the Datun Mountains of North-Taiwan. It has been designed as a vessel to react on the demanding winds, flooding and heat conditions at the site. The house, made of mahogany and concrete, is not strong or heavy. Instead, it is weak and flexible. The bioclimatic architecture also not shuts out the environment, but is designed to give the farmers a needed shelter. A ruin is when a man-made object has become part of nature. With this house, the architects were looking forward to design a ruin.
