Torre Agbar
"This tower might be a distant echo of old Catalan obsessions, carried on the winds that blown in from Montserrat" said Jean Nouvel. Inspired by the architectural legacy left behind by Gaudi and by the hills of Montserrat, the Agbar Tower rises from the ground with the power and lightness of a geyser. The tower consists out of 3 non-concentric oval cylinders. The inner cylinder holds the vertical traffic nucleus and the installations. Between the central axis and the exterior there are 31 spacious floor without internal columns. Its first skin covers the concrete walls, is a layer of polished aluminum in earthy tones and blues, greens and greys. The second skin is made up of sheets of clear an translucent glass. A LED system is used for the night lights. The leds are orientated toward the interior skin of the sheet plating, bathing it in uniform light, without projecting the light outwards.
