Ten years after the first opening in 1993, the Netherlands Architecture Institute decided to get a new graphic style, new signposts and a new entrance desk and openness in the central foyer in 2003. Within this new public-focused upgrading, Dutch interior- and productdesigner Richard Hutten was asked to design a custom-made entrance desk and ticket-booth. The prominent yellow wooden box is elevated on wheels (but never moved because of the necessary electricity wires connected onto the bottom).

Opening hours The NAi is open on: Tuesday - Saturday: 10:00 - 17:00. Sundays and national holidays: 11:00 - 17:00. April 8/9, May 17, May 27/28: 11:00 - 17:00. December 5: 10:00 - 16:00. Mondays, January 1, April 30 and December 25: closed.
How to get there? Take tram 5 or 4 from Central Station, to Eendrachtsplein. Or walk the 10 minutes from Rotterdam Central Station. Upon request the NAI offers guided tours of the building, the permanent collection and the temporary exhibitions. The guides will take you around Jo Coenen's building and show you that there is much more to architecture than simply making buildings. Reserve 2 weeks in advance at the Education Department on on +31 (0)10-4401321 or complete their online application form.
