Lithuanian architecture in the spotlight Author: Mieke, Posted: February 3rd, 2015 Filed under: news, projects, social

Lithuania
Land of the lush plains, meandering rivers and extensive forests. Therefore it's not surprising that the traditional architecture in Lithuania is wooden. Indeed, Lithuania of today is still rich with wooden architecture. A warm counterpart of the modern concrete, glass and steel structures that characterize contemporary architecture worldwide as also in present-day Lithuania.

To welcome Lithuania to the Eurozone, we hereby present you some great examples of modern architecture in Lithuania. From the brutalist architecture of Palace of Concerts and Sports to the wooden Rupert art center and the glass Baltic Hearts. These inspiring projects proof that Lithuania is not only the geographical centre of Europe *), but definitely one of the architectural hotspots of Europe as well.

Architecture guide – Mei architects and planners Author: Mieke, Posted: October 9th, 2014 Filed under: MIMOA guides, news

mei featured guide - bookletThis new MIMOA guide features the work of the Dutch architecture firm Mei architects and planners. It includes 16 of the best works of Mei in The Netherlands, mostly located in their hometown Rotterdam and varying from a small and detailed bridge between two monuments, to the famous Schiecentrale and a sneak preview of the design of one of the largest re-use projects in the Netherlands in the coming years. The work of Mei is introduced by a preface written by the Dutch architecture critic Piet Vollaard.
"If the architecture of Mei could be summed up in one slogan, then it would be something like: no-nonsense modernist redevelopment architecture."
